As the Chef de Cuisine you are a part of the culinary leadership team at The Glencoe Club. You will be responsible for ensuring exceptional member and guest service experiences in the Argyle Kitchen and Patio by curating menus, dishes and events influenced by trendy twists and comforting classics while providing an upscale causal/relaxed elegance atmosphere. You will uphold a positive work culture, display motivating leadership while mentoring and growing your team consisting of a Junior Sous Chef, a Chef de Partie, line cooks, kitchen expeditors and dishwashers. You will be passionate about the products that you are preparing and serving and be able to educate the staff and membership with menu and product knowledge. You will strive to set The Glencoe apart from other private clubs and catering facilities with exceptional food offerings.

 Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective leadership and motivation to the team by training and coaching all back of house staff through team building, cooperation, and conflict resolution
  • Mentor and train staff effectively through ongoing development including succession planning and facilitation of training
  • Foster a positive work environment and culture that reflects The Glencoe values, mission, and vision with an emphasis on the team working as a collective
  • Develop culinary menus inspired by trendy twists and comforting classics that meet or exceed member and guest expectations with considerations of an upscale causal/relaxed elegance direction for Argyle
  • Provide feedback on staffing, recipes, procedures, and business operation challenges to the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Manager
  • Evaluate all practices and processes to ensure efficiency and productivity of all back of house
  • Influence reaching the annual food cost goal, through following menu specifications and controls

Qualifications:

  • A proven track record, with minimum of 3 years in a culinary management capacity, minimum 5 years culinary industry
  • Experience in the delivery of food and beverage excellence
  • Minimum of a diploma or certificate in culinary arts or relevant field
  • Strong leadership skills and a team player who can mentor, influence, organize, engage, and train staff effectively through cooperation, conflict resolution, and facilitation
  • Innovative approach through critical thinking, collaboration, and evaluation of food and beverage services
  • Previous private club or hotel experience an asset

Additional Details:

This is a full-time salaried position that reports to the Executive Chef. The successful candidate may be required to work a variety of shifts including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays with shifts starting as early as 7am or as late as 11pm, so a flexible schedule is required.
