LICENSED PROGRAMS PHILOSOPHY

Our programs implement a whole child philosophy in a play-based environment. The whole child approach recognizes, supports, and nurtures all areas of children’s development, including social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional. Our programs ensure the implementation of a whole child philosophy by offering a balanced curriculum utilizing Flight: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework, an Emergent Curriculum and a Traditional Calendar model. By implementing a whole child approach, the program is able to meet the children’s needs in a holistic manner, empowering them to engage and thrive at the program, at home and in the community.

The Glencoe Club is recruiting for experienced, educated, creative, supportive and responsible individuals to work in the Licensed Enhanced and OSC Programs, children aged 5 to 9 years old. This is a full-time position with an expected end date of June 2025, with the possibility for hours in the 2025-2026 school year.

The Enhanced and OSC educator position is part of the Front-Line Team of the Club and oversees delivery of the Licensed Enhanced and Out of School Care Program at the Glencoe Club. The Enhanced and OSC educator will provide a safe, caring, stimulating, active and educational experience for children and their parents utilizing the superior sport venues and facilities within the Club.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible, in collaboration with co-educators for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of a wide range of activities for children utilizing individual and group interests in the playroom, with-in The Club and in the community with a focus on school readiness and physical literacy.
  • Create an engaging learning environment, supported by children’s development and documentation in cooperation and collaboration with co-workers, Supervisor and Director.
  • Record and document child development and use the implementation of positive, proactive behavior guidance and management strategies.
  • Confidently lead cooperative games, creative art activities, unique play ideas and various experiences with children.
  • Responsible for Program Administration in regard to playroom management, i.e. children’s records, fieldtrip forms, on-site and off-site activities, creative requests and maintenance requests
  • Ensure compliance with Glencoe Health and Safety standards, AB Licensing Standards, and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma, Degree or Certificate in Early Childhood Education is preferred, with a Level 2 Alberta ECE certification
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a licensed preschool
  • Understanding of Emergent Curriculum, based on children’s interests, needs and abilities; experience with Alberta’s FLIGHT Framework considered a valuable asset.
  • Current certification in First Aid/CPR “C”/AED; Childcare First Aid/CPR is an asset
  • Knowledge of and ability to adhere to Alberta Child Care Licensing and Alberta Health & Safety Standards.
  • Experience working in a recreation or sport facility is an asset, with a personal focus on Health and Wellness.
  • Knowledge of child development and skilled in the implementation of positive, proactive behavior guidance and management strategies
  • Ability to build relationships and connect with children and adults, and communicate effectively
  • A consistently positive, friendly, service-oriented attitude with excellent interpersonal skills and abilities
  • Initiative and capable to work with minimal supervision in a team setting
  • Flexible, reliable, responsible and accountable

Additional Details:

This is a full-time temporary position, ending in June 2025.

The required shifts are:

  • Monday to Thursday: 11 AM to 6 PM
  • Friday: 11 AM to 3:30 PM

Occasionally, additional hours may be required (I.e. on PD-Days).
