Job Description:

The Glencoe Golf and Country Club is a 45-hole private golf club situated on 440 acres just southwest of Calgary. We are seeking an individual who has a proven history and keenness of managing the landscape beds in the Calgary or like climate along with the leadership skills to join our departments year round leadership team.

Responsibilities:

· Work closely with Turfcare Department Leadership Team on all aspects of operations and be a part of defining daily objectives.

· Effectively lead a team of up to 8 people.

· Maintain records for the Horticulture team.

· Incorporate and implement Alberta OH&S standards.

· Design and plan all landscaped areas within budget for materials and labor.

· Selection and care of indoor clubhouse plant material.

This is a seasonal salaried position with the potential of turning into a year round salaried position. This position will be reporting directly to the Golf Course Superintendent. The Glencoe Golf & Country Club provides an excellent working environment including access to the golf course and practice facility, provided meals, and opportunities for professional development including association dues (Calgary Horticulture Society, LANTA).

The successful candidate will need to complete a Vulnerable Sector background check as well as an online Respect in the Workplace certification.

Preferred Skills:

  • Diploma/Degree from a recognized institution in Horticulture or related program preferred
  • Previous experience as a horticulture/landscape manager in the golf course industry preferred
  • Positive attitude and a keen eye for detail for managing landscape beds
  • Willing to learn and accept new challenges that come with being a part of a golf course maintenance department.
  • Ability to multi task with exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and implement cultural, water, and fertility management practices as it relates to providing optimum plant health.
