Job Description:

The Glencoe Club is a private, family-oriented sports and social club located in the Elbow Park neighborhood of Calgary, Alberta. Our facility boasts a full-service food & beverage department as well as sport and recreation facilities. The food and beverage facilities include a newly renovated euro style café, upscale casual dining, al fresco dining options in addition to two lounges and a full banquets department.

We are looking for dedicated and professional individual to join our Kitchen team as a Sous Chef at The Glencoe Club. The Kitchen team works closely with the Food & Beverage Servers and other members of the Glencoe team to prepare and provide an exceptional food service experience for our members.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and provide exceptional food service for our members.
  • Ensure food safety and kitchen cleanliness guidelines and regulations are followed.
  • Supervise kitchen staff (Line Cooks and Dishwashers) to ensure quality, speed and consistency of food.
  • Fulfill management duties including payroll and administration during the Executive Chef’s absence.
  • Lead by example and ensure protocols, policies, and procedures are followed.
  • Train new employees and provide ongoing staff training in the form of daily coaching, employee feedback, and attending staff meetings.
  • Assist with performance management of staff including yearly performance reviews.
  • Assist Executive Chef with inventory, food orders, and ensuring cost effective food preparation.
  • Assist in designing and implementing daily and monthly food specials and promotions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience, with 1 year in a supervisory role
  • Strong administration and organizational skills
  • Creative and innovative with food knowledge
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills with the ability to lead a team
  • Resilience through daily stressful situations
  • Ability to work through difficult situations in a professional manner
  • Physical capability for frequent heavy lifting
  • Keen willingness to learn
  • Completion of a recognized cooking program is an asset
  • Red Seal and Food safe course is an asset
